Pepsi Promotion and Endorsement by Bollywood Stars

Author: Charles DIckens

Like all other major players in the consumer market, PepsiCo too uses Bollywood as leverage to get its products to sell. Over the years they have had many famous faces enticing the youth of the nation to purchase this drink. Like all other major players in the consumer market, PepsiCo too uses Bollywood as leverage to get its products to sell. Over the years they have had many famous faces enticing the youth of the nation to purchase this drink. Their new approach however is a bit different. The launch of the latest Pepsi promotion ‘youngistaan' concept has now branded Pepsi as a cool drink for the young.

Celebrities make it popular

For most people, in India or abroad, watching their favourite movie star or personality endorse something always acts as a temptation or a green signal to go out and buy it. The same logic holds good when it come to a Pepsi promotion. Over the years PepsiCo has used Bollywood personalities to endorse its most sought after drink Pepsi. The faces may have changed depending on who was the most popular at a given time but the concept still hasn't. A large part of the popularity of the drink is due to the celebrity who endorses it.

The promotions work both ways

A Pepsi promotion is not only about endorsing a drink. Everyone involved greatly benefits from a campaign of this kind. For the marketers it boosts sales and therefore profits. For the celebrities Pepsi endorsements means a whole lot of money. Hence it is a win-win situation. There is always a huge amount of money involved when a Pepsi ad is created.

all about the glamour and hype

Celebrities do a lot for a promotion no matter what kind it might be. Adding a celebrity to endorse a product ensures that the product catches the attention of the person watching the advertisement. What helps even better is if the celebrity is someone that the target audience relates to. A fine example of this concept is, Ms Dhoni. The bigger the celebrity or the higher the ability for him or her to relate to the target audience, the longer the effect of the promotion will be.

There has to be constant change

When it comes to the consumer market, the advertiser and marketer is aware of the fact that it is a very fickle one. What catches their attention today might not do so tomorrow and hence any promotion that is created should be good enough to last a while. However fresh faces are constantly needed and this is the reason PepsiCo has so many brand ambassadors, Ishant Sharma being one of them.

Bollywood Star Neha Dhupia | Bollywood Star

Author: vbsvfvhegker

India is popular for its conservatism, customs, and culture and eventually monogamy has amazed the world as to how it works in east, especially in India. A single question has been startling not only west but the globe also since we are popular for "one wife, throughout life". The mesmeric magic prevails nowhere except India. Only God knows when the realty of fidelity and monogamy is going to be at its doomsday on the sacred soil of Veda. The access of internet, mobile and other digital technology has made the life of human being vulnerable. The entertainment king BOLLYWOOD has a vital role for the propagation of nudity on Indian soil.

Bollywood has been extremely popular because of the presence of highlighted personality in the field of acting. The biceps of Bollywood hunks and the cleavage of silk sirens have touched the innermost corner of the heart of teenyboppers. This is why, the teenagers are eager to enter into the glamorous world. The colorful movies on multiple channels on the television and heavenly multiplexes in the metros have changed the heart and soul of youngsters radically. A drastic change has taken place among young Indians during last decade.

The Bollywood is laden with bikini-clad babes in these days. Mallika shehrawat, Riya Sen, Rakhi Sawant, Sherlyn Chopra, Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley, Manisha Lamba and Bipasa Basu are extremely hot while attired with bikini. These actresses are quite popular for wearing two pieces. After all, Malika Shehrawat and Rakhi Sawant are extremely popular for their daredevil show in public. Mallika Shehrawat once became the prey of media while participating a show in a five star hotel in Delhi. Bipasha Basu in Dhoom2 was looking hot wearing bikini which created havoc in Bollywood. Sharmila Tagore showed her incomparable beauty in a bikini in the year of 1967. She was the first women in Bollywood with a bikini in 'An evening in Paris'.

In spite of semi-nudity in the entertainment of Bollywood, some heroines are not willing to get cheap popularity by showing their body in two pieces. The Bollywood's most wanted heroine Aishwarya Rai is the burning example who is found extremely rare with a bikini. Zarine Khan the copycat of Katrina maintains distance to be involved with nudity as well as bikini. She expresses herself not to be in bikini since she looks chubby. Ayesha Takia is another example of bikini-less heroine. She expresses her flabby figure does not suit with bikini.

In these days it is seen that the bikini-clad women are applenty in the realm of bollywood. During past decades the technology of multimedia has been proved to be a booster for promoting bikini babes on the web. Apart from this, before ten years the women are reluctant to enter into bollywood with bikini. However, the time has passed and everything has taken a shape in Indian films. There are some controversies have come to light as to the dignity and durability of the bikini-clad women in the field of entertainment. Recent studies say the fair sexes with skimpy attires are no longer accepted by the people in the field of entertainment. The people wants to be vicarious than erotic while watching movies.

However, she retrospects the bygone days of holi. Deepika tells playing holi is really a fun and she used to play with her school friends  in her building. The bollywood sirenic heroin was extremly cautious about her hair and skin while playing colors in her teens.

After playing holi one should clean the hair and skin thouroghly which is the first and foremost duty of everyone. Bollywood on a Roll as 3 Idiot Outperforms Avatar

Talking about clashes, this one was the mother of all clashes. Can you possibly think any director can be a challenge to James Cameroon? Well, it’s the dawn of the new head named Bollywood. To be more precise Raju Hirani has done the impossible.

3 idiots have done what no one had ever thought of. Before Avatar would release, everyone couldn’t stop blabbering about the movie and the accolades which James Cameroon had accomplished, next generation animation and what not. But, now people are just talking over 3 Idiots, which had no special effects, no James Cameroon nor the cost which Avatar had. Yes! The movie did have Aamir Khan though! What can be said about Mr. Perfectionist? Whenever you count him out, he does something supernatural to get himself back on the charts.

Avatar was based on sci-fiction whereas 3 Idiots was based on the life and struggle of youngsters (Engg. Students). Let’s take nothing away from the Hollywood’s ace director James Cameroon. Avatar is one hell of a movie with mind boggling graphics and special effects. It is really a visual treat for all ages, especially children. But, what the movie lacked is the raw emotion which 3 Idiots had. This is also a fundamental distinction between Hollywood and Bollywood. Bollywood films tend to touch our lives somehow or the other. One such movie is 3 idiots. Avatar was something which was appreciative, no doubt. But it hardly related to humans living in today’s world, whereas, 3 Idiots had something for everyone.

No one could have ever imagined that a Bollywood movie can outperform a big time Hollywood movie. But, yet another time Bollywood has shown its forte and caliber to make good movies and left the costliest Hollywood flick Avatar flummoxed.

It turns out that Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots has out grossed and outperformed James Cameron's 'Avatar' at the UK Box Office! Imagine a $1.2 billion (and still counting) phenomenon called 'Avatar' is trampled by Rs 35 crore-budgeted Bollywood flick!

3 Idiots retains its position in the UK Top Ten after raking in more moolah than Avatar on its first day of release. This Bollywood flick has become the highest grossing Bollywood movie in the UK, beating the likes of Shahrukh Khan's 2008 film 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' and even 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'. It has broken records for Indian films in the US, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Fiji and Kenya.

Bollywood has vanquished Hollywood for the first time and that too not for any ordinary movie. 3 Idiots has really made the whole Bollywood film fraternity proud.

Bollywood has yet again proved that they have what it takes to make mind-boggling, path breaking movies! What is the need of the hour for Bollywood at this point of time? We need more movies like 3 Idiots which can uplift the level of Bollywood and make a whole new level for movies. We need to draw a line of superiority when it comes to world movies. A few more years down the line and Bollywood will be head to head with Hollywood, and the credit will go to our great film makers!

Indian Brides and Bollywood

Bollywood is India's most popular source of entertainment. The entertainment is there for us constantly. Unfortunately there is a large volume of the population in India who are poor and uneducated and can't always afford to enjoy what Bollywood has to offer. However things have changed a lot in the last two decades. Many people are unable to buy good - or if they are, they might not be able to read them. Many households still don't have a television set in their house. Newspapers and magazines we have already ruled out, so cinema is the only means of entertainment for them. If they earn Rs.1200 a month they will spend Rs.300 on the cinema per month, Rs.300 on Daru (alcohol), and Rs.100 on Bollywood film star posters. The remaining will be spent on getting by.

India is a hot country. In summertime the temperature can go as high as 52. We are more likely in April or June to go into town for shopping of business because there is air conditioning in cities like Mumbai. If you are out and about, you have to get to a shop or hotel by 1pm, otherwise will be uncomfortably hot. For lunch there are many air conditioned restaurants, but you have to have money, otherwise you will be out on the roadside by 2.30pm.

Going to the cinema is an option to stay out of the heat. It does not matter who the film star is, or the director, they will spend Rs.50 to buy a ticket for an air conditioned hall and sleep in the dark before the film even starts. This is not a trick of the trade, this is a need and a necessity for many. Even cinema owners know this, and they sometimes help you by keeping the volume down in an afternoon show.

On a slightly different but not unrelated note, bridal costumes are inspired greatly by Bollywood. Brides will look no further than Bollywood when they want to buy a dress for the special day. They watch the films, especially the ones newly released, with the brand new styles. When they go shopping for a dress, the shop owner might say "madam, I have a newly designed dress which was worn by the Bollywood film star, Karina Kapoor, in this film, or by Katrina Kaif in that Bollywood film". They will say that either they supplied the dress, or that they designed it and have exclusive rights for its reproduction.

When Bollywood films are made, they keep the bridal dress in the market. They are like sponsors for the bridal dress market, which is very big. Bollywood is larger than life. If you have the money you can buy a bridal dress that was actual worn during a Bollywood shooting, but they come with a huge price tag. Indian bridal dresses are controlled by Bollywood. I wonder what will be next?

Gossips - The aspect of Bollywood

Bollywood is recognised as the biggest film industry of the world. There is no doubt in this, that this big film industry has given a number of interesting successful films to the movie lovers. This film industry is in India, but you can see the craze about the movies of the Bollywood in other nations also.

But, apart from the films, there is one more aspect of this film industry, that always remains in the limelight and people take a lot of interest in it. The aspect refers to the Bollywood celebrity gossips. These are special types of news about the actors and actresses of the Bollywood. Such news items may be regarding their roles in latest films, or regarding their personal lives. People listen to these gossips with a lot of interest. Many of the film magazines and the movies sections of the newspapers can be seen full of such items. It is really interesting that many people take more interest in these as compared to the films.

Majority of times these gossips are about the affairs of different actors and actresses. Whereas some others may be related to any big or small criminal activity committed by a Bollywood actor intentionally and unintentionally. Divorce cases of some actors also fall under the same category. An instance can be taken, that some days back some of the actors were caught for hunting the black deer. Moreover, their daily activities are often the subject of gossip. For instance, what an actor did in a party, who misbehaved with whom? What they wore in the fashion shows, jealousy between actresses and many other like these also fall under the category of gossip.

But all this really doesn't mean that these are related to only the personal lives of the actors. Some juicy information about the role of an actor or an actress also come under the category of Bollywood celebrity gossips. It may include the costume worn by the actresses in the films, romantic scenes and many others. Now, the advancement in technology has made it easy for everyone to get the updated gossips. You can see a number of websites that are full of latest juicy gossips. You can get the information with ease on these sites.

People do a lot of criticism about the Bollywood celebrity gossips a lot. But, it has a number of positive points also. You can get updated news of the Bollywood with the help of these aspects. These help the people in getting informed about the events going on in the film industry. As mentioned above, some individuals have started some special magazines regarding these. The business of these magazines are going on hike. It is for sure, that these gossips are those aspects, that will continue to entertain the people till the Bollywood continues to exist.

The Arrival Of Heyday Of Bollywood

The Indian entertainment sector was named as Bollywood due to the combination of Goddess Mumbadevi and former Bombay. The word for Indian cinema was coined as Bollywood keeping in mind the world’s biggest entertainment Hollywood. During last decade many new words were coined those are pertaining to entertainment. India has hosts of languages. There are many regional languages such as: Marathi, Telgu, Tamil, Odia, Kannad and Bhojpuri etc. Though the Hindi movies have been proved to be predominant, yet the people have not left their love to their local language in the lurch. After the word Bollywood was coined, the new words in different languages in entertainment segment came to light. The words are Kollywood Tollywood, and Ollywood etc.

The success of Bollywood movies obviously denotes the success of Indian economy. Since, before a decade the Indian films were low at its budget. These movies were only shot in Indian rural areas and cities. Whereas, the movies in these days are being shot in the major cities of the world. The people have flair to watch the movie. The Indian TV channels have mushroomed during last ten years which is a clear indication of the improvement to the Indian economy. As economy started growing, the Bollywood found its heyday.

The Indian movies started with high budgets. At the same time the business at the box office touched its apex. That gave inspiration to the Bollywood producers, directors, actors and actress etc. Previously we had experience of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmedra, Jitendra and Mithun Chakravarty etc. The Indian film heroin were also very few. The women from Indian culture were reluctant to enter into semi-nude acting in Bollywood. However, the time spoke and people left their conservatism. Youngsters became open minded and they started entering in to the Bollywood.

There was a scarcity for the heroines in Bollywood Movies before fifteen years. However, the unavailability of heroin in Hindi film is not a distant dream. Sridevi, Tina muni, Jayprada, Rekha, Hema Malini were the few names in Indian Bollywood. But, the Bollywood heroines are aplenty in the present scenario of Hindi cinema. Kareena Kapoor, Zarine, Katrina, Aishwria Rai and Ayesha Takia are the popular names those who are hyperactive to promote Indian entertainment. Basically, the actors of the current trends are having flexibility to act any role in the movie. The Indian actors are in these days highly versatile. They can perform any role starting from comedy, thriller, romance to pathetic etc.

Surprisingly, the year 2009 and the beginning of the year 2010 were extremely successful in doing business in Bollywood. The highly successful movies are slumdog millionaire, Kambakkht Ishq, Love Aaj Kal, Paa, Wanted, Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani etc. Currently the movie 3idiots is a huge hit in the history of Indian entertainment. It has a gross business of more than 300 crores. It is believed that the year ahead for the business of the Indian media and entertainment will remain intact as economy of India is developing by leaps and bounds. So to speak, the Bollywood is going to go places in the near future.

Bollywood Faces Downfall

Bollywood faces a downfall not only at the Box office but also in the Indian Premiere League. At the Box office Bollywood movies suffered a huge loss resulting in the downfall early in the year 2010.  The first three months Bollywood suffered a loss of around Rs 200 crore. The chief reason behind the loss was the ongoing Indian Premiere League but the class and the movie content was also put to blame. You can't deny the fact that starting from January till March the movies that have released did not have the content and the potential to go big. Failure of medium-to-big budget movies like Dulha Mil Gaya, Chance Pe Dance, Rann, Teen Patti and Pyaar Impossible, led to severe losses.

When movies where bombing at the Box office, Shahrukh Khan's My Name Is Khan gained prominence as it connected well with the audience and earned some money as well. Though, it earned a lot of money but it failed to remunerate for the loss that Bollywood suffered all along. And other small and semi budget movies like Ishqiya and Love, Sex Aur Dokha were well acclaimed by the critics for putting up some valiant performances but none was a money spinner.

And now, when we see the IPL, Bollywood is stranded over there too. The teams of Bollywood franchises were not able to give their best in the whole tournament. This year, Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab is placed last in the points table. They have showcased horrifying performance this year as their key players didn't perform in the whole tournament and in the halfway staged they were ruled out of the competition. They are the first to be out of IPL Season 3. Hard Luck Preity!

The second to go out of the competition was Shilpa Shetty's Rajasthan Royals. Yep! They held the trophy in the very IPL season but this year they were outperformed by the other teams. Shilpa Shetty's expectation and their coach cum Captain Shane Warne's admiration and motivation could do the trick for them this time around. Rajasthan Royals are lingering second-last in the points table. No Halla Bol for Shilpa Shetty this year.

Lastly, King Khan of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan is no stranger to failure in the world of T20 cricket. This is the third consecutive year that SRK and his team Kolkata Knighriders have been ruled out of the league. Troika in a row they have failed to qualify to the semifinals of the Indian Premiere League. SRK may be the supreme star of Bollywood but in the world of cricket he has surely taken some beating. Though "Korbo Lorbo Jitbo" has been their mantra, they have surely taken the pains to take the initiative and fight but they are yet to experience the sweet taste of success. The King of Bollywood ain't going down without a fight!

So Bollywood movies are surely having a hard time toiling around the cricket field and also at the Box office. Post IPL there are some biggies all set to hit the theatres and Housefull starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan, Riteish Deshmukh is slated to release on the 30st of April. Hope Bollywood survives the backlash and jumps back to the top at where it belongs!!!

Homosexuality imposed on Bollywood Industry

Homosexuality is everywhere in the world these days since it has set its feet in every society around the globe. In west, it got stronger when years back the marriage between the gays was given the legal status. Following it, many gays tied the knot. Joining this bandwagon, the coveted singer Elton John (who is a gay as well) got married to his gay buddy too. This marriage was given huge coverage in the media.

I got much dumbfounded when I heard from some friends in Bollywood industry that there existed the homosexuality in this swanky world of Hindi filmdom.

Following to this bitter truth, I read a few articles on this subject published in the popular Indian newspapers, which clearly depicted the whole picture of this nail-bitingly sour fact in front of my eyes.

Some famous faces of the biggies of this trade of movies, who are involved in this evil practice, hit my mind when a very good friend of mine, who is a coveted model turned actress, revealed this fact to me. This is what happened that she was seeking a lead role in a film under a big banner project because her debut Bollywood flick had been shelved due to some unknown reasons (I too asked many a times to the director of this venture as to why this film was not being released despite the fact that it was complete and passed by the censor board. But he did not mention the reasons). This she expressed to me and I gave her the contacts of those filmmakers who were looking for the talented actresses. Among those names, there was one name of a director who I praised hugely since he had churned out the blockbusters and carved his place amongst the big wheels of the Bollywood filmmakers in a short span of time. The moment she heard the name, started to rebuke him by exposing him from tip to toe as to how this popular director's actual face was! The minute I learnt about that filmmaker that he had been involved in homosexuality, I got simply shocked at the bitter fact, which was very difficult to swallow. He himself told to her his involvement in the practice of homosexuality when she approached to him to have a chance to do the role of a leading gal in his movie. But he asked her to come for a drink at night at some private place. And when she turned down his offer, he told her … "in order to enter into the ritzy world of Bollywood, one has to sleep with someone so you have to bed with me. Even I had to sleep with someone to direct a film". She refused him and as a result he gave the central character to the big actress.

The person, with whom he shared the bed to do the homosexual activities to have a chance to direct a movie, is running a well renowned production house in Bollywood. His production abode has chewed up a very long list of flicks since his film company has been in filmmaking for last many decades. His father, a popular producer-director, had started the business of making films decades ago. And since then they have been conferring the moviegoers with mega hits. Theirs is the production house amongst a few banners, which have long list of blockbusters to their credit.

Gossips have also been chomped in film circles and in the media about the involvement of a super star with his filmmaker friend in gay activities. This saga does not end here rather it unzips more facts about homosexuality in Bollywood. Some months back, there were stories about a famous Indian showbiz journalist about his sexual harassment to Bollywood stars in all the leading Indian newspapers and on popular Bollywood websites across the world.

The days when Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Saawariya' had hit the theaters, I got e-mail from some unknown person (who did not disclose his identity) laced with a picture showing that journalist getting close to a famous male model at the premiere of ‘Saawariya'. The person also mentioned in the e-mail that Bhansali gave him the J-Class ticket to attend the premiere. What attracted to me to that e-mail was the first line, which said, "he came…he saw…he touched". And this narration very aptly fits to the picture, he sent along.

Sonu Nigam, the celebrated Bollywood singer, has also been the victim of this journalist. This fact oozed out before the world when Sonu Nigam himself wrote a letter to the media and sent it across to all the Bollywood journalists around the globe through his PR Manager. One copy was sent to me as well. The letter described that the journalist had interest in Sonu Nigam and when Sonu did not respond to his sexual advancements, he began to throw mud on him by writing negatively on the songster. Sonu Nigam also presented the text of the sms's sent by the journalist to him, which said, "I miss you and love you Sonu" and "I am sorry". Nigam even revealed the names of the big wigs of Bollywood who were on his hate list. They included the King Khan (Shahrukh Khan), Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shiney Ahuja, Anu Malik, Adnan Sami, Ismail Darbar, Shilpa Shetty, Asha Bhonsle, Alka Yagnik and many more because they never allowed him to come to them.

Where there is homosexuality in Bollywood fraternity, there is another evil emerging rapidly in the industry called ‘casting couch'. Despite being swathed with all of these evils, Bollywood is on high heels of success not only in India but also in each and every corner of the world because the people, associated with it, work really hard and their uphill struggle pays them in return.

Bollywood- The Hollywood of India

Bollywood is India’s most remarkable industry. There are other budding Industries as well, but it is Bollywood which attracts most of the Indians, due to the fact that all the Bollywood movies are made in Hindi – which is a national language of India. Weather it is a rich businessman or a poor worker, Bollywood delivers entertainment to all of them, it does not recognize caste or creed. A typical Bollywood movie is packed with romance stories, song and dance, daring actions and most of all, family values which can be watched by purchasing a small ticket.

Bollywood was not always known by this name. Formerly known as Bombay film Industry, it was given this name because it was an Indian version of Hollywood. By uniting Hollywood and Bombay came out Bollywood, a new symbol of growing film industry. It was later that Bombay became Mumbai, but the name Bollywood stayed in the hearts of Indians and is the same ever since. The establishment of the Indian cinema has given Mumbai an enormous credibility, Hindi movies were always a matter of pride and efforts.

The influence of Bollywood is present every where in India and abroad. Movie posters and posters of products endorsed by stars can be seen in every lane, intersection, empty walls or roads. The love of Bollywood echoes everywhere in the form of music of ringtones, blaring car horns, wedding celebrations, etc. One of arenas where Bollywood has made complete impact is fashion industry. People like the way actors dress and often try to imitate them with certain clothes. As a result, a teeming Fashion industry has emerged at Mumbai and has given fame to all the Indian traditional clothes worldwide as Saari.

While Bollywood films have universal appeal, it serves a bigger purpose! Bollywood gives rise to thousands of jobs for Mumbaikars in every segment. From Movie production to set design, music creation to action stunts, film promotions to multiplexes, Bollywood produces substantial work and opportunities to succeed. Every newbie who is dedicated to Bollywood is rewarded with fame and riches. Bollywood has created many success stories, several stars as Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar started out here as nobody. While there are sacrifices, it is much easier to taste fame.

As the choices and preferences of movie goers change, it opens new avenues for Bollywood. Young producers implement new ideas and concepts to draw fans in the theatres. Bold topics are being embarked upon and realistic value of Bollywood movies is considered very important. In a way Bollywood is changing its face for a newer generation, as it has done for centuries. The establishment of Bollywood industry has proved to be the strongest influence in our level of thinking as Bollywood movies deliver a chance for cine fans—a way to step out of their own routine lives and step into the lives of other, usually colorful people. In short, we may love it or we may criticize it, but Bollywood is an eternal part of every Indian's life.

The Future of Bollywood Seems to be Rosy

Bollywood has been proved to be the part and parcel of Indian people for more than fifty years now. Bollywood is the only entertainment media that has been proving successful in spite of recession. The bollywood movies remained highly successful even when recession was in full swing across the globe. Indian entertainment segment kept its honor intact by showing it proficiency to the world. There are many reasons behind the success of bollywood movies despite the failure of economical market in the world. The first reason is the actors and new comers to the Indian entertainment. Some of the actors those who have contribution to make the Hindi movies vivid before the world are Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Imran Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Saif Ali and Sahid Kapoor etc. Besides this, there are some virtuosos those who have also a great contribution to the Indian movies.

Bollywood Pictures, Look Out Hollywood

Bollywood Pictures

We all know that Hollywood is out of story ideas and is adopting scripts from Asian film hits. For those who may not be well-versed in the international film circuit, the closest encounter they may have had with Bollywood pictures are Hollywood knock-offs such as “The Guru” and the yet to be released “The Love Guru,” both movies tampering with Indian culture with less than flattering representations. But what most people do not know is that Bollywood is a burgeoning film industry with a reputation of producing an impressive number of 1000 feature films a year.

History

No, Bollywood is not what you’d expect it to be, as its name suggests. Perhaps the common thing between Hollywood and Bollywood is that they’re both the entertainment capitals of nations that have a huge movie-loving crowd. There is no Beverly Hills counterpart in India or a mountain which displays big, white letters that spell ‘BOLLYWOOD’ to mark the country’s entertainment center. Instead, ‘Bollywood’ is a portmanteau word derived form ‘Bombay’ and ‘Hollywood’ which is used to refer to India’s movie industry.

India started making films in 1913 (the first being “Raja Harishchandra” a full-length silent feature film) and by three more decades, 200 Bollywood pictures were being produced in a year!

As known by those who enjoy international film sampling once in a while, Bollywood pictures are mostly musicals. It is also known to Bollywood audiences that a film’s success greatly depends on the quality of the musical numbers they present. This means elaborate costumes, a lot of singing, and meticulously choreographed dances.

Bollywood overseas

From the traditional musicals, Bollywood has also produced pictures more suited to the taste of an international audience. In 2002, ‘Devdas,’ which stars

Aishwarya Rai , made a great impact at the Cannes Film Festival, causing audiences to take a closer look at Indian cinema. Not long after, Ronnie Screwvala, a prominent Bollywood producer, took Jhumpa Lahiri’s award-winning novel, ‘The Namesake’ into a full-length motion picture. The movie was a commercial success, providing more opportunities for Bollywood movies to have a wider circulation outside of India.

All in all, Bollywood’s growth is undeniable. Stars such as Aishwarya Rai have now started crossing over, gaining popularity in the western world. She has started being seen in popular television shows such as 60 Minutes and even the ever popular Oprah Winfrey Show.

The scripts of Bollywood films are commonly in ordinary Hindi or Hindustani which are also spoken by most of the population. However, a number of movies have also used regional languages or dialects depending on the local color of the film setting. Current mainstream Bollywood films also make great use of English. A lot of films have several lines of English incorporated in the script. There is also growing number of Bollywood pictures that are made entirely in English. This is another sign of Bollywood reaching out into the global market.

Bollywood, the only Recession-Proof Industry of the World

The Bollywood has been the part and parcel of the entertainment for the people not only in India but also across the globe. During last decade the Indian entertainment segment has been extremely sophisticated due to emerging Indian market. The professionals from different walks of life are more involved with the entertainment after an all day long pressure in the office. Bollywood has given excellent output during the last two years in spite of recession. Of late, the people are opting versatile tools to relieve stress in day to day life. The Bollywood movies, astrology, TV serials are some of the tools that make the people stressless.

There are many Bollywood movies that mushroomed in the year of 2009. The top rated movies like Love Aaj Kal, Kambakkht Ishq, 3idiots, Paa have been proved to be successful in the history of Bollywood. The Love Aaj Kal, a blockbuster movie that has compared the love of the people of different Era. Especially, it has explained the love of 1965 when mobile and internet was a distant dream for the people. It became the apple of eye of the Bollywood fans in spite of maiden venture of Saif ali Khan. Saif Ali and Deepika were in lead role. Rishi Kapoor was the part of this movie.

The current blockbuster movie Paa is a tremendous success for not only Abhisekh Bachcan but also for Amitabh after a big flop in Aladin. Aladin even did not offer its production cost. Perhaps it had been a success, had it been released during the light festival (Diwali) of India. The box office collection for the Bollywood movie Kambakkht Ishq was a history of Indian box office at the first week of its release. The 3idiots lead role by Amir Khan made a history in Bollywood due to the world wide acceptance of the people. It gave a huge business which attracts 30 crores income tax for the producer.

The Bollywood superhero Amir Khan has a history of making few films with startlingly huge business. After the Ghajni by Amir Khan the movie 3idiots brought the business to the Bollywood more than 300 crores. The business might be second highest in the history of Bollywood since the movie Slumdog Millionaire offered astronomical amount worldwide. So, the story of success of Bollywood is blowing now. The success of Bollywood is going to be hit all time high day by day. Besides these movies, the movie Ajab Prem ki Gajhab Kahani has also given a great success at the box office.

So to speak, the Indian Bollywood industry has been proved to be recession-proof. The business of Bollywood movie 3idiots, Paa, Kambakkht Ishq and Love Love Aaj Kal has given huge amount. Bollywood is going to enter a new era of emerging economical growth.  We will come to know more business of Bollywood after the release of Paathshala, milenge milenge and Ishqiya etc. Meanwhile, Bollywood even has a look of Hollywood as the actors are being more advanced than before. Ultimately, the Bollywood actors and actress are being more active in regards to their attires, beauties etc. since the modern world is in search of newness in everything.
